Network Marketing - Are We Still a Land of Opportunity?

I just happened to hear a blurb on tv that a couple of our politicians were questioning the ability of people that have less than ideal situations growing up to rise above their beginnings and make a life for themselves. Our country has been called the 'land of opportunity' ever since I can remember. It was more important what you did with what you had than where you started from. The journey was the thing and the prize was getting there and starting your next great journey!

It would be a sad place to be if you were destined to be what you started with. I was not impoverished or terribly mistreated as a child but I still struggle with a lot of things internally. I have an internal 'life should be fair' monitor and even though I know that a lot of time it doesn't look that way I believe it usually is. We make choices every day that determine our outcome later in life, most are small things but they all add up to what we have and where we are now.  I always loved seeing the stories where someone gets to do a 'do-over' and see if they can make a better outcome if they just did or said something different. We can' t do that in real life but if we just paused for a second to consider what we are about to do or say, it could make the biggest difference down the road.

I believe this IS the land of opportunity, we have the ability to make great changes in small ways.  One kind word to someone that is not being considerate could make his or her change their attitude just enough to not say the next cross word to someone that is at the end of their rope, and instead of a fight they can do the same to calm someone else, and the chain reaction would continue to be positive, not negative.  Just one kind word can really make a difference to someone ready to take a desperate act. If the right words would have reached that horribly disturbed boy that killed all those kids at Sandy Hook, would they still be here?  I don't know but isn't it worth the effort to choose being kind over being right? We know what happens when you leave someone alone that is unhappy, never is the outcome good. Isn't it worth the chance to make the effort to let then know as soon as you notice them that they have options other than striking with in thier pain  before they reach that horrible end?

I know it is idealist thinking. So I am an idealist. I think that anyone can change their life for the good, and network marketing is the one place where anyone can make it with a little effort and the right support system to aid them. I used Mentoring for Free, because of the personal developement attached but you can use whatever resource you find to help you. But you need help and support to make it. A good idea can either die without ever getting off the ground, or can be improved on and be brought to the world to make a great change, maybe all someone needs is a little encouragement to believe they can do it! Just one kind word can turn a decision to do good or bad.

As a network marketer you have a tool that can really change lives, but you do it by making relationships. Your 'prospect' most likely needs to believe he or she can do it! Most of us are greatly lacking the belief in ourselves more than anything, so that once the excitement wears down and we are met with obstacles we have the belief in ourselves to continue. Many people stop just short of the gold, if we just would have gone one to dig a few more feet, we would have found what we were looking for. If we don't every quit we will get there.

So help someone to believe in themselves and you will have a star. They will go on and you will both prosper. Remember Zig Zigler's famous quote, 'If you help other get what they want, you will get what you want'. It is true, the way to pay your bills or get that trip you want to win is to help someone else to do the same, your problems will disappear along with the people you help.The land of opportunity is here, and it lives in you and me, in our willingness to help and support each other.

Network Marketing - How to get followers... and friends!

I have been guilty of alot of things lately, and one of them has been wondering where all the leads went. Why is no one clicking thru to get my info?  I have myself planted out there, I am branded, I have sent out good feelings and have visited my social networks once in a while.. so where is everybody?

Well, I have to blame myself. People come to see what you have to say, and if you stop having anything new they move on. I put out my name on the social networks, made up ads that run continually, and would visit with much irregularity the sites and blogs I have set up including this one, but would not have anything to say.  I was looking for some inspiration, something that would bring people around to what I thought was obvious, that is I can help them to be successful in network marketing!  I know what to do... but don't do it with regularity. I listened to all the positive thinking tapes and would do some of the exercises I was told to do but didn't follow thru with consistancy on anything I did. 

I had a good reason... life and family got in the way.  I was still telling myself that people would find me anyway and I could step it up anytime I wanted. But when you stop, you don't start from where you left off, you start from the beginning. I have found it is ok to stop or slow down... sometimes you have to, just don't let it stop you from getting up again and moving on. As long as you don't quit, you will succeed.

If you stop and give up, you will fail. But isn't it a great country we live in where we can always begin again?  No matter where you stopped, years ago, months ago or even days ago, you can get back up and go again. As he says in the video, it matters how you finish.  You can finish strong no matter how you began or how long it's been since you fell down, as long as you keep getting up!

I am getting up again.  I have been on a weight loss journey which I am going to finish and I still have a passion for network marketing. It is still the best way for anyone to build a business with little to no experience or capital and it is by far the best way to self improvement as you work, no job I ever had included a course in self developement like I have received from my network marketing company.  I have the knowledge to build it and I now have to commit to doing the things I need to grow the business.

network marketing - We all have a mastermind group, just didn't choose them consciously... But we NEED TO!

We all have a mastermind group, several I think. We just don't always choose it consciously.  A mastermind group is people that you hang out with, people that share a common goal, have similar wants and desires, and participate in the same activities.  Their thoughts and attitudes combine with yours and form a power to get whatever the group seems to be going after. A football team works together to form a winning team, they work together on a common goal. They work together in harmony to win a game, and band together even off the field many times as friends, participating in the same activities. They form a mastermind group just as a company of people do that are working for any common goal. 


Take a look at your circle of friends growing up, if you hung out with kids that got in trouble, you probably did too. Growing up I was crazy about horses and art and generally not interested in the dances and the popular crowd, when the prom came around we had our own party and celebrated without the crowds. My friends were the animal lovers, the ones that were more prone to go camping than to dances. We had similar interests and participated in the same kind of activities. They were my mastermind group, they gave me power to pursue my interests in art just by supporting me and giving me positive reinforcement when I needed it. They gave me energy.  


When it came to money we had the same idea in art school, nobody thought we could ever get rich. Worse when I went to art school, most of us shared the same starving artist mentality. I don't think any of us ever got rich and famous, now I think because we didn't think we could. After all there are wealthy artist, wealth can come in any profession, and not necessarily to the most talented one, I went to school with many very talented people, and none of them that I know of have gotten past a middle class income, even though they truly were creative people.  Money only came to those that sold out and didn't stay true to their art, they went commercial, we stayed pure. What egos!


I participated in an outward bound climbing class for 14 days when I was in my late 20's, we climbed mountains and camped out in the Rocky Mountains. I was generally the last one to get anywhere because of my weight and not so great physical shape. But I persevered and caught up to them at the end of each hike. The last thing we did was a seven mile run (in my case a walk). I was so tired and sore, I just kept putting one foot in front of another, setting my sites on the next five minutes or the next tree to get thru it. Even the person that waited 3 hours to leave and make sure no one was lost passed me up... but when I was almost there, I spied my group, my mastermind group there ahead of me. They came out to meet me as I hobbled into view. They came to walk/run with me the last mile. All of a sudden I had energy I didn't know was there and I actually trotted the last mile with them, something I couldn't do by myself. I was really touched and empowered by them. That is the power of a mastermind group.


I think one of the greatest thing a mastermind group can do is give you energy, fuel that burning desire for success. When everyone is working towards that common goal, working as a team to get where they want to be, the universe responds just like it did when we were telling ourselves we would be starving artists for the rest of our lives, and gives us what we want. The mastermind group fills that physic river with positive energy if we can just align ourselves with it and gives us power that we can't get alone. We need each other to get the energy, the power we need to be really successful. We need to consciously choose this group, not just take whoever comes along. We need to get the best 'batteries' we can to help power our dreams.


You need to consciously and with purpose pick your mastermind group. Pick people that you look up to, that will inspire you.


I found is mentoring for free and they tell me I can own my life, I can make lots of money if I just believe I can and I can fulfill my dreams. I never thought I liked money, I have the same negative ideas given to me by my past mastermind groups from the past that I just fell into. I now consciously choose who I am hanging out with and most importantly listening to, and when I hear well meaning friends and family both past and present, sometimes just in my head, tell me I am not supposed to have money and my dreams are just wishes that I will never see fullfilled,  I know to tell them and me they are wrong, I own my life and will get what I am after.  


The power of prayer is a great example. It has been prooven that when many minds gather to pray for the same thing, it creates a real powerful force. When we get together and all start to work to a common goal, we form one powerful mind, with more energy than one can ever produce by themselves. It's true you can't get what you want alone, we need each other, we need our mastermind group to succeed.


So think about it, think about what you really want, what your goals are. You need to pick a group of people that will uplift you. Leave the negative people behind, as hard as it may be, they just drag you down and you will stay where you are.  You can do it if I can and I am doing it.

Network Marketing - The most important thing... Why?

If you are working on building a home based business, one of the most important things you need to figure out is WHY!

Knowing what you are working for will keep you going when you meet those bumps in the road.  It will make them just that, a little bump, not a chasm to fall into or a mountain to climb.  Growing any business is at best a challenge so you need something to get you going and keep reaching for what you want.


Recognize and believe that You have the power to become anyone you want. If you are willing to lay out the plan, plot the course, and work at it, you can become the person you want to be. Your "why" will keep you on course.

To craft your 'why' think about who you have been, what you have done, and what is important to you. What do you do when you have free time?  What makes you energized, and what brings a smile to your face?  What would you 'give your right arm for!'

Think about places that you have been that really made you feel good.  How did you feel, that can be the first part of your 'why'.

All of these things will help you to figure it out. It is a work in progress, and will change and grow with you.  Try not to make it about things, make it about people and goals, and what you want to be remembered for. Make it something that you feel so strong about it makes you cry.  You will be glad you did.

Recently I was on a Leaders call that was full of powerful information about why you need to read your company Policies & Procedures.

In 27 years of network marketing, we've learned the #1 feature you must have in place for success:

Company management experience with integrity.

People ask all the time, "How do I know if my company has integrity?"

The answer is simple: read your company Policies & Procedures. If you can't find them on the website, it's a big red flag. Some companies say you can't read them until after you join. Big red flag.

Why are they ashamed of their P&Ps? Why don't they want you to read them? The P&Ps are YOUR contract to be in business with them - written by the company lawyers! Every time any distributor ever gets a termination letter, it says, "You have violated the Policies & Procedures." They never say you violated "Terms & Conditions." It's always "Policies & Procedures."

Most reps never actually read their P and P's. You need to do it ... it may really open your eyes. At least you'll know exactly what to look for and how to protect yourself.

So think about it.  I too joined many companies without even thinking about the p & p's but have since heard some real horror stories about how  you can be affected by them.  If you were getting a job you would want to know how you were paid, what you were paid and what you had to do to get paid... and most employers will tell you what will get you fired!  Shouldn't you have the same knowledge if you are building a business that you want to pay your children's children... you want security!


The only way to be sure is to read them, not take someone's word for it, but read it before you sign on. You will be doing yourself a favor and practicing critical thinking.  Protect yourself and your family by being informed.

Best mlm business today - lotions and potions can make you money!

I hear and see a lot of people asking what is the best network marketing / mlm business out there today?  What a hard question!  There are as many answers as there are people.  The best answer is probably not about companies but about categories.

Most companies that survive make great products or they wouldn't be in business. Typically the energy companies are the hardest to survive, technology changes so fast that the products they have have a hard time being value priced and the companies have a really hard time keeping up with the Jones!  You want to have something that stays a good value.  So if the product is one that is based on present technology, you will probably find them falling away in the midst of  competition.

  So when looking at a particular opportunity, the easiest first point to look at is from the five pillars, how long have they been in business?  If it is less than 2 yrs old, it has not passed the test of time.  Most fail in the first 2 years, so if you don't want to take a chance on it folding just when you are getting going, don't pick a company less than 2 years old.

The hardest thing for me was what kind of company or product did I want to get involved with.  I hear people making fun of the so called 'lotions and potions' type companies but let me ask a question....  how many times a day does the average person take a vitamin or nutritional supplement, wash something either on their person or in their home, use something as simple as hand lotion, get bit by a mosquito or stung by a bee, decide to go on a diet, or look for something healthy to snack on.  If you are looking at a hobby by all means look for something 'fun', but if you are looking for an opportunity to make money... what kind of product could be better than one that almost everyone uses every day!  The health and beauty industry is a massive one, and being a part of this gives you customers every where you look.

I am in this to make money and (a great side effect) to help as many people I can.  The old adage of  'If you help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want is tried and true.  And what better way to help someone be healthier and happier physically and sometimes emotionally and mentally as well.  I am looking to grow personally and the nutritional supplements just help me to be more mentally alert and see what I need to do to get what I want.  So I am not feeling bad about being a part of a multi-billion business, I am excited and thankful that the company I choose has such high quality products that help me so many other people feel better and get healthier, as well as make some great money.  Take a look at some nutritional supplement companies, and see just what great potential there is in a product driven company that can really make a difference in so many peoples lives.

So lotions and potions can be very lucritive.  If someone laughs at you for getting involved in something like this, laugh right along with them.... all the way to the bank!

Optimized MLM Leads - Don't get scamed buying leads!

Optimized MLM leads are leads that have shown interest in what you are doing, in Network Marketing they would have expressed interest in making money from home. The more specific the interest the better the online mlm lead. There are lead companies galore that will tell you they generate the best leads, that the people they are selling you are hot on the trail of building a network marketing business and prove it by making you pay top dollar for them. But what are you really getting?

They are giving you garbage and building their lists at the same time. Buying mlm leads from most of them means you will end up on someone else's list and if you call the leads, provided they give you real phone numbers, you will find them very neutral at best to ice cold and uninterested. Buying leads is a scam and totally unnecessary. You can find your own mlm opportunity leads at little or no expense and they WILL BE OPTIMIZED and TARGETED for your business!

First to get your own targeted optimized leads, you need to brand yourself. Put your name out there by starting a blog and learn to write your own articles. There are lots of free places to do this, and when you are more skilled you can get a self hosted site. Google likes Blogger and that is a good place to start. (I don't get anything from saying this!) Just put in a search for articles and blogs and you will see many results, find one that suits you. There are also many places that can give you good advice on how to write them.  You should write about something you are passionate about, use your knowledge to create something of value for the reader so they return to you. You are the expert.

My good friend and mentor Michael Dlouhy, author of "Success in 10 Steps"  is an expert on generating targeted mlm leads. Listen to what he has to say about buying leads...

You will need links to your articles, blogs and websites. Backlinks are important and easy to do. Get your self on facebook, linkedIn, twitter and any other social network you can find. You can use a multiple posting program like Onlywire to post to all of them at once. You don't have to write a book, just what you are thinking, a great saying you came across, good advice from someone (make sure you credit anyone quoted) or a thought for the day that would be uplifting and positive. All of this will help you to be branded, to get your name out there and support your blogs, articles and websites.

Make sure there is a way for readers to leave comments. Getting a conversation going is a great way to keep someone listening and reading. If you are giving them something of value they will want to come back and will want to know more about what you do. Now you have them asking you for information about your business!

Safelists take a little more time but are also effective. They are a way to share by looking at other peoples websites or ads. All are a little different in that some will require you to look at more ads than others but those that are struggling are looking at the ads, you can fly through them to optimize your time. All are free or you can join them, but first try them out for free to see how they work for you. I haven't joined any of them and have success. I track them so I know what I have, and if one is not performing like I want I just replace it with another.

Pay per click can be effective but beware, there is a cost. You will get a first $75 or $100 credit to try it, and by all means take advantage of that but when you start paying you can end up with a large bill if you aren't careful. Get some expert advice before diving in to pay per click so you don't end up emptying your bank account. There you MUST track your results to pay the least amount of money for your leads.

So stop buying mlm leads and start generating your own. There is a ton of information out there. This is called Attraction Marketing and you can do it mostly for free, and get better quality people to talk to as well. If you are looking for a lead generation system to help keep track of them, look into Mentoring for Free. They also have a great library of teaching audios and videos on how to get your own leads.

Be a critical thinker. If you see an opportunity for buying mlm leads, find out something about who is selling them, you may find the very people that are suggesting it are profiting from them as well. Google the name, research the company, and know what you are paying for. You will find it just won't be worth it and you will be happier and a lot less broke if you go get your own targeted mlm leads.

There are many benefits to doing network marketing.

There are many benefits to doing network marketing.  It is the only level playing field, that is no matter who you are, how old you are or what you have done in the past, all have the same chance to really make it. It is the only business model that can be done by anyone at anytime!  Here are some of the advantages of doing network marketing.

MAKE MORE MONEY

When you work for someone you are trading time for money, the only way to make more is to get a raise, or work more hours.  MLM does not have the same limitations. You can earn money when you are on vacation! Once you build the business, you can be doing something else and your team makes money without you even being there. How would you like to get paid for having fun!

WORK WHEN YOU WANT TO

You can make your own hours, work when you want to. You do have to put in the time, but you can arrange it any way you like. If you have job, you have to take off when they say you can, and in an emergency you risk not keeping the job or reduced earnings. Network marketing is not this way, you have to work, but you decide the schedule.

NO BOSS

If you are working for a company, you have someone over you that tells you what to do, when to work, when to take a break, and how many hours you must work. If you are working for yourself in network marketing, you decide these things, you have no boss except yourself and your ambition. You decide how many hours you need to complete a task and what to direct your energies on. You are the boss.

YOU CAN GROW AS A PERSON

Marketing has alot to do with personal growth. Taking responsibility for your business almost forces you to grow as a person.  You have the chance to see just what you can do, gain confidence, learn communication skills and teach others to do the same.  You become a leader. 

There are many advantages to working with a network marketing company. If you need help looking for a company there are people that can help you. Look for someone that has done it, that has a system in place to teach you as you grow, that you can use with the people you bring in to the business.  Don't jump into the first one you see, be selective.  Network marketing is an exciting business and you can make much more money than you can in a 9 to 5 job.  Find a mentor to keep you from the pitfalls, the scams and con artists.  It is a great way to make a living and to make difference in others lives.

Being Successful in Network Marketing - How to Choose One That WIll Work For You

There is an endless list of network marketing companies out there, some good, some bad and some just out right scams, even illegal!  So how do you choose one to invest your time and money in?

Here some things to look for, or look out for when picking a company.

First you need a company who's management has experience and integrity.

Ask yourself who is the ceo?  Who decides the rules, and who runs the company?  Have they ever done network marketing before?  Go on google and do a search for information on the people that are going to be writing your check. Most of us have little information about the integrity and principles of the people that are deciding how this company will work. If this person or group of people has no experience in managing a company or if they are in it for the management, not the distributor, you will have trouble. The policies and procedures should be there to protect the distributor, not the management, and you should be able to understand the language. If it is written in lawyer terminology and has lots of pages, it is probably hiding something they don't want you to know. Ask yourself if this is a company you want to trust with your future?  Get a copy and READ the policies and procedures, they don't need to be 20 pages long unless they are providing more for the management than the distributor.

Next most important is timing in the industry and timing in the company.

So often we go by some great product that is said to be the next best greatest thing since sliced bread. Technology moves so fast that it is easy for someone to take a product and make it sound like the best deal yet. Always you need to get in on the "ground floor" to really make it big. And it is said to be easy and something everyone will want and need in the near future.  The trouble with these claims is that the ground floor could very well go out from under you anytime, because technology moves so fast, there will soon be something even greater to take it's place and that product will be so cheap you can't compete.. Something like 90% of the startup companies fail in the first 2 years. Do you want to build a business with this company?

The third thing to look at is the product, you need a remarkable product.

This one is the easiest. If the company has been around very long, they have to have a great product, or they would be out of business. The product should not be something you can get on ebay or in the stores for less than you can sell it for. If it is on the shelves for less, then they are making money on the distributors, not on the product.  Technology companies are the worst only because the product that is great today is replaced by  another one in the near future.  The best product is something that is being used up so the customer has to buy  it again the next month. This is why nutritional and cosmetic products do well.  Consumable products will keep customers coming back. You don't have to love it, you just have to find customers that do. Would you buy this product if there wasn't a business opportunity attached?

The fourth thing to look at is the compensation plan.

Most people do a network marketing company in their spare time. They are part time workers, and they have to be able to make money within a couple of months to stay in long enough to learn the business.  So the compensation plan has to pay the part time person. There has to be a way to make and build an income without having to build a massive network. They have to have products that are priced so they can be sold competitively in the retail market. The plan has to pay it's distributors on everyone that comes in.  Use something that is a level measure, for instance how many people do you need to make $1000 a month or $10000 a month, in residual income. All things considered, would you rather work in a company that you need 250 people in your total organization to make $10000 or one that takes 2500 people to do the same thing?  This is something to think about.

How about training, how are you going to go about building your business? You need a proven duplication system that will allow your people to go on learning and building even when you aren't around to guide them.

This system should be one that is easily understood. It needs to give you step by step instructions on how to do it, not just get people and sign them up, but HOW to get people to talk to and WHAT to say to them once you get them. When someone is looking at doing a business and joining YOU, they want to know do you know what to do to make money at this and can you teach them to do the same thing. With a system like this you can grow, you won't have to rely on the front end and just recruit to make up for the ones that drop out, because if your people can duplicate what you do and make money, they will stay.

With this system, you need a MENTOR, someone that you can model what you do and that can help you to understand what you need to be successful. No matter what company you are trying to build, this is the most important. You should NOT have to buy leads, make lists of friends and family, talk to everyone you meet where ever you go, and do presentations to as large of a group as you can. My mentor has showed me how to find people without doing this. I DO NOT spend money on leads, I have many ways to find people that are looking just like me and want to do a business from home. You can be successful no matter who you are or what you have done before. If you have failed before, you won't if you go by these principles. Just do some critical thinking and you will be a superstar!

Mastermind Group is the key to success - help working from home!

No one thing survives alone, everyone and everything depends on a support system. For us working a business from home, a mastermind group is the key to success in a home based business.

I have always loved trees, and loved to draw them. Not just any tree but the big gnarly kind, the ones with the big roots and lots of branches. I was looking at this sketch which is like many of my drawings, and the roots and the trunk take up most of the page. they really support the tree.  They really dig down deep in the soil, and the soil gives it the nutrients that it needs to grow tall into the sky.

When I studied art therapy, one of the exercises they taught us to use was to have someone draw a tree, a house and a person. The really fascinating part was that all of these drawings represented the person. They were all a self portrait.  My tree is me, and just like the tree, I reach into my mastermind group for help and support as I build my network marketing business!

One of the things that is necessary to grow a network marketing business or a person, or any home business is a mastermind group. a group of like minded people to help and support you as you learn and grow both financially and personally... kind of like the tree.  A tree alone without soil, without the roots reaching into the soil for what it needs, would not grow very big or very lush..  But look at the tree, the roots, dig down into the soil, just like we need to reach deep for what we need. I get nourishment and positive encouragement from my mastermind group, just as the tree gets nourishment from the soil, and without the soil the tree can not grow big and strong and without a good support system we can not grow either. A good mastermind group will nourish you and give you all the training you need to grow and prosper, just like the rich soil around the tree. Like the tree we have to be smart and humble enough to reach deep into the group, ask for help when we need it and follow the advice given to get what we need to grow. With this in place we will prosper.

No one can survive alone, especially when they are trying to do a network marketing business. Everyone needs a group of like minded people to lean on and learn from, and the group needs you to keep it fresh and learn from as well. Network marketing is the best second j-o-b!

Network Marketing is not only the best way to earn money with a business of your own but the only way that is a level playing field for ANYONE wanting to be financially free.  I have found no other business model that will allow anyone from the high school dropout to the finest scholar, the person who knows everyone or the person who knows no one, or even the one that has trouble doing presentations to the one that thrives in the spotlight. Blue collar, white collar, any collar are all equally qualified to do this business.  All it takes is being able to follow directions, to follow a proven system and ask questions when you need to and listen once you ask them.

I had it all wrong, I thought I had to be like those other recruiters, the ones that can sell snowballs in Alaska!  I tried to be like them, but I just was not them, and couldn't duplicate what they did.  Consequently I didn't have the success they told me I could.  When I asked for help, I got told talk to more people, make a bigger list of family and friends, 'close' them this way or that way.  But my friends and family didn't want to be 'closed' and I soon ran out of them.

Now I have fun.. I talk to people that want to talk to me.  I do what is natural to me, I am making friends and helping them to be successful, sometimes just helping them to be better people, NOT CLOSING THEM!  What a great way to make money... just doing what comes naturally, making friends and friends helping friends!  Anyone can do this that wants to, it just takes the desire,a system, the right team to support you and being yourself.
